I am speechless Les. I used to listen to you when you were in your room with the door closed with your first electric guitar. I remember - it's all you did- you were always picking the strings. I love Baroque Rocks - just so awesome. I'm just smilin

Les, I have your "Goin' Back" CD and found your playing, and covers of the Left Banke and Byrds, exquisite. Also, must say that the lead vocal of the Byrds songs (as listed), on CD 1 of the Byrds-related double CD (including Gene Clark doing his own material at the end of CD 1 and on CD 2) "Most Famous Hits The Album" (mcps 6533, U.K.) sounds very similar to yours.

Well Paul, I still treasure my old guitars and still use them on all my recordings. The Ztar is another color in my palette and I'm enjoying the challenge of creating something new and fresh.

Part II;
a Ztar, surge protector, power mac, usb cable, 32 band equalizer, and a DI box, they wouldn't have to deal with this anymore...USELESS are the guitars of old...in fact, I've been using alot of my "cheaper" guitars as firewood in my cabin upstate; the other day when my dog (bongo) knocked my 1956 Gibson Les Paul (in mint condition) on the ground outside the patio onto the cement floor...I laughed, and said "Good riddance!"
LONG LIVE THE Z-TAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paul
Paul
January 19, 2008
Hey MAN!!!
I see your Z-tar'in it now-a-days? but I must ask, SHOW ME THE JANGLE!!! In 1980 when Paul Mcarty recorded McCartney II there was a definite backlash from die hard fans regarding the fact that he was using alot of synthesised sounds on that particular record...and I must say after hearing your "new" Z-tar sounds I was extremely DISAPPOINTED....that there weren't more tracks on the album!!!! Listening to the Ztar makes me think i've just wasted my last 35 years playing those cumbersome "real" guitars...the tuning, the strings, the hassle....you've shown me that the tired and outdated "analog" guitar is simply not up to todays professional music making standards.
My guitar playing buddies laugh at me when I bring my mac, inteface, Z-tar, cords, power pack, surge protector, headphones, gig bag, signal processor, DI box, external graphic 32 band equalizer (for making a clean signal from the computer out), and usb cables to Jam with...but I have to laugh every time one of them has to "tune" or even "replace a string". I think to myself, if only they had

Lester!!!! (if I may call you that!!) I'm literally minutes away from ordering guitar revolution soley based on what I have heard on the website!!! :) ;) but I just had one question to ask, (ya married??!!) no no, silly me haha but in all seriousness, Have you ever thought about doing a reunion album with mitch, joe, and justin!!!! just(in)....forgive the punny pun ;), just a thought seed to plant deep inside ya head!!!
off to yoga class, I can almost kiss my tushy!! (haha, just joshin' ya...its an old yoga joke haha or "yolk"..as we in the "biz" like to call it (biz being short for "business", or enterprise)

ps, wheres the merch!!! gimme some merch!!!
Chip!!!
October 9, 2007
MY GOD, I've been listening to the Guitar Revolution and all I can say is that Les Didn't diss-apoint!!!
there are things on here that lennon and harrison themselves are turning over in their graves in, cause they can't keep from grooving to the beat!!!
the addition of tambourine to particular songs (noteably "I am the walrus") really gives a flowing feel to the Beatles formerly choppy and unforgiving version of the song (I always preffered U2's cover of it)
you've out done yourself!!!!!! :) :) when's the next one come out? I hope before christmas (am I thinking stocking stuffers? oh yes, I am)

John & Tim, thanks for entering in the Guestbook! You guys are really gonna love "12." Jangle Pop deluxe and IMHO, a very exciting version of "I Know You Rider." As for 7 string, what do I do with the other five? :-)

June 17, 2007
hey les, have you ever explored the possibility of the 7 string guitar? I knew a friend who tuned the lowest string to a G and moved the G string around to pull out some really dirty licks....definitely a cool tip!

Leave your Rick in it's original color. Fireglo is an easier resell than blueburst. However, blueburst is a pretty color. Buy a second one in blue!

In response to your equipment questions:
The 12-string I use most frequently is a Rickenbacker 360/12 v64 model with Rick strings (.010-.042) - a very nice shade of Fireglo. I also occasionally use an Epiphone Riviera Elitist 12-String electric. Same gague strings.
As far as guitar synthesis goes, I use a Fender Roland Ready Stratocaster and Wilson Bros VM-10 Ventures Stratocaster with Roland GK-2A Synth Pickup with Fender 150 Nickel Plated strings (.009-.042). Roland VG-8EX with my own custom patches triggered from Roland GK-2A Pickup Vox Tone Lab (for the guitar side) Digitech Brian May Red Special Pedal for some distorted sounds The cable is the 13 pin cable one uses with Roland gear.
I do not record with amps since the Roland and Vox already have very good amp simulators in them. The Guitar synthesizers are: Roland GR33 and Roland GR-1 I also use a Roland GI-20 GK MIDI Interface to talk to my software instruments which are: Arturia Moog Modular V Arturia Brass Native Instruments Reaktor GMedia Music M-Tron Ableton Live Various Plugins in Logic Pro 7 Thanks for listening! Best, Les

I agree with the last poster, Charlie. And I would also like to add that I believe you calling yourself a 70s pop legend is a travesty!....and an understatement! the massive amounts of work I've heard and seen throughout the years with the Fradkin name on it is simply astonishing and I love it all. Whether im 'getting wet' while listening to "jangleholic" or even just getting "under the covers" to one of your albums (please excuse the puns mr. Fradkin!) I always have to smile, and to top it off...many of the album covers themselves are simply works of art (for a guitar geeker like me!) Whether it be you holding a Rickenbacker or a Wilson Bros. I always can't wait to see what axe you have next on your cover...and as for your abilities as george (I saw you a number of years ago at the Badonkadonk auditorium in NY)All I have to say is....
YOU CAN'T SPELL "BEATLES" WITHOUT "LES"!!
one of your biggest fans (literally!)

Everybody get wet!
this is the shout that my middle school band ensemble gave before we performed some of the wonderful tracks from the album Get Wet at our spring concert. im in seventh grade and absolutly love your surf rock instrumentals!! they always bring a fradkin smile to my face! my band conduncter was especially impressed when i brought in Get Wet for him to listen to, as i already could play most of the album on my clarinet. i have to say the audience just looved your sound!!
les you are one of my favorites and i will always look up to you

Hi Les! My father Robert Boyer worked for your father, Milton Fradkin for years at Apparel Processing Corp. and I have met your father twice and kept in contact with him over the years. I remember he gave me your 1st solo single "Song Of A Thousand Voices" and I loved it!!! Had lost contact about you until my niece, Brandy, went to CA last week and saw your Mom and Dad. She brought home pics and it was great!! They looked so good. Just thought I'd try and look you up on the internet and surprise!! I found you. Can't wait to get your new release "Pepper Front & Back" coming out today!!! Hope this finds you doing great and good luck with your new release!! Love, Kathy
